The Rise In Men Seeking Aesthetic Treatments - What's Changing?

Over the last 18 months or so, I have noticed a huge boost in men booking in for medical aesthetic treatments and wanting to improve their skin at Victoria's Aesthetics.

I don't think this is just a local increase, but it appears to be an international upsurge in everyone looking to feel better within their skin.

Not long ago, aesthetic treatments were seen as something “just for women”. Quiet appointments. Little conversation. Plenty of assumptions.

Fortunately, that archaic narrative is shifting and it’s changing fast.

More men than ever are exploring aesthetic treatments, not to chase perfection, but to look well, rested, and like themselves on a good day. And for many, the decision isn’t driven by vanity, it’s driven by confidence, work, relationships, and self-respect.

Whether you’re a man reading this for yourself, or a woman reading this because maybe your partner has mentioned a "skin concern" or “doing something” but isn’t sure what or why - this blog is for you.

This is just what I am seeing in clinic, it doesn't mean all men are looking for treatments like this. But I have noticed men booking in with me because of my clinic principles - subtle improvements with a slow and steady approach, that help you to feel good in yourself.

Why Are More Men Seeking Aesthetic Treatments?

Men are paying more attention to how they feel - and how they look.

Looking after yourself is thankfully no longer seen as a weakness or selfish.

Men today are:

  • More open about mental wellbeing

  • More invested in health and longevity

  • More aware of how ageing, stress, sleep, and lifestyle show up on the body

When someone looks tired, worn down, or constantly stressed, it often doesn’t reflect how they feel inside. Aesthetic treatments are increasingly seen as a way to align the outside with the inside.

Work pressure plays a bigger role than people realise

Many men seeking treatments are in:

  • Client-facing roles

  • Leadership or management positions

  • Outside work with exposure to the sun

  • Competitive industries where confidence matters

Looking tired or burned out can affect how someone is perceived, even when they’re performing well.

This isn’t about looking younger. It’s about looking capable, alert, and put together, which contributes to feelings of confidence. Think of it like when you buy a new shirt or a haircut; when you look better, you perform better.

What Men Usually Want From Aesthetic Treatments

Spoiler: it’s not big changes, it's similar to women but different too.

In reality, most men that I see in clinic, want:

  • Subtle improvements

  • A slight smoothing, but no frozen foreheads

  • Softening of lines, not eliminating them altogether

  • To look the same, just better

  • For healthier skin

Common phrases men use:

  • “I don’t want to look done”

  • “I just want to look fresher”

  • “I want to look and feel natural”

This is actually what most of my patients say when they come for consultation, male or otherwise. Why we specialise in natural results regardless of sex or gender.

Confidence, not compliments

Men rarely seek treatments for praise in how they look or how they're ageing.

They’re more interested in:

  • Looking confident

  • Not avoiding photos

  • Feeling comfortable looking in the mirror

The confidence is often quiet, but powerful.

The Most Common Concerns Men Bring to Appointments

Tired eyes and dull or sun-damaged skin.

This is one of the most common starting points.

Men can often neglect their skincare, using whatever shampoo or shower gel there is and only using SPF whilst on a sunny holiday.

They notice that their skin and under-eyes are looking dull and tired and this is usually the first skin concern that they notice.

Skin quality and texture

This is where many men start, especially those new to aesthetics.

Common goals:

  • Healthier-looking skin

  • Smoother texture

  • Less congestion or redness

Skincare and skin treatments for men are often the gateway into aesthetics for men, because they feel practical and easy to start small by incorporating a product or two, rather than jumping straight to an injectable.

Why Men Often Take Longer to Book (But Are Serious When They Do)

Men research quietly

They put it off and may not think about it as much as women do.

Unlike many women, men often:

  • Read blogs and reviews privately

  • Ask fewer questions out loud, especially to other male counterparts

  • They may still think that aesthetic treatments are more for women

So if a man is reading this, chances are he’s already considered treatment, even if he hasn’t said it yet.

And if you’re a woman reading this about your partner, curiosity often comes long before conversation and booking that appointment.

Trust matters more than trends

Men are less influenced by:

  • Social media trends

  • “Quick fixes”

  • What their friends are doing

Why Women Often Book First, Then Their Partner Follows

It’s incredibly common for men to access treatments because:

  • Their partner already attends a clinic

  • They’ve seen subtle, natural results

  • The environment feels safe and professional

“He noticed how natural it looked on me.”

Trust builds through observation.

For many men, seeing a partner’s experience removes fear, stigma, and uncertainty.

Aesthetic Treatments Aren’t “Un-masculine”,

This shift mirrors other changes we’ve already accepted:

  • Men use skincare now more than ever

  • Men get hair transplants

  • Men go to the gym to feel good in themselves, not just for fitness

Aesthetic treatments are simply another form of self-maintenance.

No drama. No ego. Just looking after yourself.

What Men Need From a Clinic (And Why It Matters)

A calm, respectful environment

Men value:

  • Privacy, they are less likely to tell people they've had treatments or what they're using to look after their skin

  • Straightforward conversations

  • Confidence to come into a clinic without feeling it's just for women

Clear explanations without jargon

Men want to understand:

  • What’s being done

  • Why it’s recommended

  • What to realistically expect

Simple language builds trust and confidence.

Why This Trend Is Only Going to Grow

The rise in men accessing aesthetic treatments isn’t a phase, it’s a cultural shift.

As conversations around:

Mental health, self-care, wellbeing and confidence become more open, men feel more permission to invest in themselves.

And importantly, they’re choosing treatments that help them look and feel like the best version of themselves.

For Men Reading This: A Final Thought

If you’ve been thinking:

  • “I just don’t look how I feel”

  • “I look constantly tired”

  • “I want to feel more confident in my appearance”

You’re not alone, and you’re not vain. You're joining many more men that are seeking aesthetic treatments all over the world.

So if you're ready to stop washing your face in the shower with shampoo and start taking better care of your skin, you're in the right place.

For Women Reading This About Your Partner

If your partner has shown curiosity:

  • Keep the conversation open

  • Share education, not pressure

  • Reassure them that subtle is normal

  • Encourage them to talk about how they're feeling

Most men, like women who explore aesthetics wish they’d done it sooner, but only when they felt ready, informed and safe.

The Bottom Line

Victoria's Aesthetics is not a pretentious clinic and there is absolutely zero judgement, or any pressure to go ahead with treatments. Come for a consultation and let's discuss everything, there is no obligation to book. I welcome anyone to clinic that wants to feel good in themselves (unless you're a Liverpool fan we just might not get along, as a Man United fan myself.. 😉). Joking, obviously.

In summary, despite sex or gender, everyone deserves to feel good and if you can improve that skin concern you have and gain confidence by doing so, it's a win-win.
