Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is a harmless skin condition that refers to any changes in your skin’s colour. It can be triggered by sun exposure, hormonal changes, certain medications, or even injury. These factors overstimulate melanocytes (the cells responsible for skin color), causing small patches of discoloration. “Sun spots” are typically smaller and more superficial, while melasma tends to cover larger areas and goes deeper into the skin, making it trickier to treat.

For most superficial pigmentation, home skincare, sometimes paired with prescription options, can be very effective. In-clinic treatments like chemical peels and microneedling are also excellent for tackling pigmentation concerns.
